About Me

I’m Stephen, a journalism student at the University of Portsmouth currently searching for a summer internship for 2021. Journalism is something that has always interested me - being able to write my own news story and see the process of how news gets out to the public is why the subject was at the top of my list when choosing what to study at university.

Although being a student is of course a large part of my life, it isn’t the only thing that can be said about me. With journalism being my professional interest, I couldn’t write something - personal without mentioning my love of sports, TV and film, so when I’m not doing university work you can find me playing football, watching films or TV shows and doing anything that will take my mind off work.

In recent years basketball has also become one of my favourite sports to follow - with American sports in general being presented so differently to anything we see in the UK. My love of sports is the main reason my dream job is to work for Sky Sports or ESPN (or any sport broadcasting company), but it also comes from my admiration of hard working people in the sporting world who have grafted their way to the top of their field - that being both athletes and successful broadcasters.

This is what I eventually hope to get from my degree - the ability to find a job that would give me a sense of enjoyment and achievement.

Everything I have said, however, is still somewhat profession related. But there’s more to me than journalism. Whether it’s my intense fear/hatred of spiders, or how I moved to Switzerland as a baby after being born in Oxford.

Or the fact my main bucket list goal is to travel the world and experience all the different countries and their cultures. I think that would fulfil my ultimate mission of making memories that will never leave me.
